Earlier this summer, United By Pop sat down with Nashville-based singer-songwriter Savanna Leigh, who grew up in Florida around music creatives. During the interview, she shared insights into her music and upcoming projects, including her new EP, Reminders of You, which is now available on all streaming platforms.
The EP title Reminders of You, serves as a heartfelt reminder to take a deep breath, have a dance party, and let your tears fall during those uncomfortable, uncertain, and confusing moments when it feels like the world is falling apart. The six tracks, like journal entries or letters to a former self, resonate with anyone reflecting on a challenging relationship or the end of a significant life chapter. By italicizing you in the title, Savanna and her team intended to encompass all the physical and emotional memories, as well as the various chapters and versions of oneself that listeners may have experienced or are currently navigating.
“It’s important for the songs to allow someone to feel all of the emotions without fear of judgment – from other people or from themselves,” Savanna says about the EP.
Before the release, Savanna dropped three nostalgic singles—’Mason Street,’ ‘Happier Songs,’ and ‘Reminders of You’—that explore memories filled with anxiety and uncertainty in a relationship with either oneself, a place, or a partner. Along with the singles, she sent fans postcards about each song. ‘Let Myself Cry’ and ‘Indigo’ center solely on two main feelings: heartache and uncertainty. They stand out as the melancholy songs on the EP, capturing the profound sense of sadness that a person may experience when reflecting on their past and present situations.
The final track, ‘Favorite Parts of Me,’ marks a departure from Leigh’s previous work. It exudes optimism rather than melancholy, focusing on a present and future self that no longer needs to be tethered to the past-a fresh start, tinged with nostalgia for the person you once were in a previous relationship with a situationship or in a chapter of your life that you clung onto too long.
Savanna is on the radar with her captivating storytelling and emotive lyrics. Her ability to connect deeply with her listeners through her music makes Reminders of You a must-listen. Check out the EP on all streaming platforms and her upcoming performances below.
