This Friday, international pop artist Anna Aya put out her second single, “Hit Me With Your Love”. The release follows her successful debut single “Someone Else,” which reached #2 on Japan’s USEN Chart and #47 on the Top 50 Pop Radio Charts. The J-Pop singer incorporates her multicultural background in her music, releasing tracks with English and Japanese lyrics. “Hit Me With Your Love” was co-written by 9-X Diamond, Grammy nominated producer Louis Bell (Post Malone, Taylor Swift, Justin Bieber) and 6-X Japan Gold Disc Winner Michael Africk (Mai Kuraki, Zard, Jordan Knight).
“Hit Me With Your Love” combines lyrics that express thoughts of infatuation and empowerment along with Anna singing with the confidence of someone who knows their worth.
The singer also draws inspiration from her Japanese upbringing, using the language and the nuance and tradition woven into it to give her music a sound unique to her. In a conversation with iHeartRadio Anna stated, “I have a lot of inspiration from the Japanese sound, which is very soft and has more of an emotional feel to it. I wanted to incorporate that into my music for both English and Japanese, which is why the song is bilingual. I incorporated the fun pop sound from the U.S. and the emotional part of it from Japan. The whole song is about finding your worth and saying that I don’t need anybody to approve me or validate me, I can do it for myself.”
The 20 year-old pop star has a rich background in modeling and dance, which led to her interest in music. In 2022 songwriter and producer Michael Africk discovered her through international connections, and signed her to his company Handcraft Entertainment. The GRAMMYs featured an exclusive performance of “Hit Me With Your Love,” produced and directed by Golden Globe winning and Academy & BAFTA nominated Shannon McIntosh, earlier this month. Despite only debuting last year, she’s already making major strides in her career as an artist. Anna has already started cementing her reputation as a one-of-a-kind singer. Between her experience in entertainment and her multilingual abilities (she speaks Japanese, Armenian, and English), this J-Pop star is showing the world she’s ready to craft a unique legacy for herself.
