Carly Rae Jepsen returns to Broadway in a new glamourous music video for her song, “Surrender My Heart.”
Filmed with the technology brand, Lenovo, and Intel Evo, the music video was shot over two days at United Palace Theatre in New York City. It features world-renowned ballerina Isabella Boylston and actress Jane Krakowski (30 Rock) as the self-absorbed director overseeing Jepsen’s music video.
Teaming up again with GRAMMY award-winning director Brantley Gutierrez, Jepsen wanted to pay homage to her musical theater roots after she appeared on Broadway in a revival of Rodgers and Hammerstein’s “Cinderella” and played the beauty school dropout Frenchy, in Fox’s “Grease Live!” special in 2016.
The video concept is magical, funny, and charming as it features elaborate dance numbers, a comedic sketch as the intro, and of course a “Broadway” show.
In speaking to Rolling Stone about the idea behind the music video, Jepsen said, “What I really want to capture in this music video… is that there is like a no-good, terrible, horrible bad day going down for a few different women within the production, maybe myself, maybe a ballerina, maybe someday else involved, and through the support of each other and the behind-the-scenes kind of chaos, that we’re able to pull off the mini miracle of what it is to be in a Broadway situation.”
Having recently finished her North American leg of her The So Nice Tour, she will soon kick off her European leg next year in February before she heads to Australia the following month.
