Adele has made her triumphant return to music after taking a six-year hiatus. She released her new song “Easy On Me” along with a five-minute music video. The anticipation from fans was high after projections of the number 30 were seen on landmarks across the globe.

“Easy On Me” is your classic Adele piano ballad, but as always, it’s something uniquely special. She said in an Instagram Live this week that the album was going to be about her divorce, and it’s referenced in the first verse of the song: “I know there is hope in these waters / But I can’t bring myself to swim / When I am drownin’ in the silence.” With each verse, she crescendos into the chorus, where she asks her son to forgive her for what happened.
The music video starts out in black and white, with Adele packing up and leaving her home. Eventually, everything is in color, and her life is getting back on track.
Adele announced earlier this week that her fourth studio album, 30, would be released on November 19. In a statement posted to social media, she said that she learned a lot about herself while creating it over the past three years. “I’d go so far as to say that I’ve never felt more peaceful in my life,” Adele said. “I’ve painstakingly rebuilt my house and my heart since then and this album narrates it.”
