Not since Harry Potter have I been so excited for a book release! On May 2nd Sarah J. Maas’ third book in the ACOTAR series, ‘A Court of Wings and Ruin’, will be hitting bookshelves and ruining hearts forever.
This hyped book release has had everyone talking, and particulars of the plot have been kept under close wraps. Even the title has been a hotly debated concept, and the cover had its own online launch. But Maas is not letting any secrets spill!
The first book in the series, ‘A Court of Thorns and Roses’, was a brilliant introduction to this world of high fae and high intrigue. But it was the second book, ‘A Court of Mist and Fury’, that propelled this to become one of the greatest fantasy YA series of our time!
So what can Maas bring to this third book that would make it compete with the greatness that was ACOMAF? I think I’ve got a few ideas!

More fiesty Feyre
Ever since the first book, Feyre has been a feisty and independent character Maas’ readers could easily form an affinity with. The last book saw her character progress, her walls begin to come down, and her emotional wounds slowly begin to heal. Despite not being the last book in the ACOTAR series, this will be the final book featuring Feyre so it will be provide perfect closure for her character to finally learn to acknowledge the strength inside of herself.

Maas’ evocative style of writing attracted fans in her first bestselling series, Throne of Glass, but she truly exceeded everyone’s expectations in ACOMAF. The Night Court was made visible through hauntingly beautiful descriptions and expressive imagery that displayed both the world and Maas’ skill as a writer.
More fairytale vibes
The previous two books retell multiple fairy tales, including The Beauty and the Beast and Hades and Persephone, with faerie lore. It is rumoured this third instalment could be loosely based around Snow White and Seven Dwarfs as well as the mythological Helen of Troy.

More bad Tamlin
Tamlin played the sickly sweet saviour in ACOTAR and we began to see this facade cracking in ACOMAF. Now I am ready for him to bring his oversensitive, overprotective and overbearing nature to the front and for Feyre to fight it every step of the way.
More Lucien
Tamlin’s sidekick has so much more to give and is one of the most interesting and mysterious characters of the series, in my opinion. Exploring his mysterious past and his fracturing friendship with the High Lord of the Spring Court would make for utterly compelling reading.
More Lucien in love
At the end of ACOMAF Elain, Feyre’s sister “the flower-grower, the gentle heart”, is transformed into one of the fae beings she so despises. Upon seeing this transformation Lucien realises that Elain has become his mate. They seem like dually the most destructive and compatible duo, and I am all about making them my new OTP.
More Prythian
Readers explored the Spring Court in the first book and the Night Court in the second. I am ready to see more of the strange yet beautiful lands of the fae in this third instalment.
More humans
As exciting as the high fae adventures are, I am eager to see more interaction between them and their human neighbours. Their uneasy alliance will never be fully reconciled bu I hope there will be more an understanding formed between the two.
