Taking place in the fantastical lands of the Four Vales, this follows the turmoil that ensues when the peaceful region is upended by claims of an attempt to overthrow the governing structure. Lady Cassana Byron’s life is held as collateral in this attempt at upheaval, as her death would cause chaos in the realm. Help comes in the unlikely form of an immigrant stone-mason, Khadazin, who hears of the attack prior to it happening, and saves the lady before harm can come her way. Now both of their lives are in danger and they must travel the lands to hide from the unnamed and faceless attackers. But their escape will not save the land they love, and they must find a way to fight what they cannot see, or forfeit the Four Vales to the invaders.
