Never heard of Bishat? Allow us to get you acquainted…

Bishat hais from Gothenburg, Sweden, but spent her teenage years in West London where she studied performing arts. She has been writing songs since the age of thirteen but only made her breakthrough last year with a mash up of Daniel Johnston’s ‘Some Things Last A Long Time’ with The Weeknd’s ‘Often’ and Lykke Li’s ‘No Rest For The Wicked’.

She self-released her debut single ‘Sober’ earlier this year and, impressively, managed to rack up almost 400,000 streams on Spotify without any promotion.

Now, Bishat returns with her second single, ‘Mine’, which she penned during a bout of insomnia she suffered whilst visiting family in Ethiopia.

“It’s about a relationship where the fears of repeating your mistakes are causing those same issues,” Bishat explains. “I can be so bad at having those tough conversations about feelings – in the end it kills you if you don’t, but it’s so much easier for me to write about it.”
